Problem: When trying to connect to the internet, Windows keeps asking for the password. I enter the password, and Windows keeps asking me again for the password. It then disconnects.

Solution: This problem is usually caused by simple errors. Check the following. After checking all this information and things still don't work right, please call us at 865-4736 and we will be happy to help you:

  1. When typing in the password, make sure that the CAPS LOCK key is NOT pressed. Remember that the username and password of your internet account have to be typed in all lower case. If the CAPS LOCK key is pressed while typing in the password, this will cause the password to be typed in all capital letters, and will cause Windows to ask for the password to be re-typed, and will ultimately cause your computer to disconnect.
  2. When trying to connect to the internet, check the username. Is your email address typed in? If so, Windows will return the error that your password is wrong, even though the problem lies in the username. Your email address should not be typed in the username box for dialup. For example, consider the two examples below. The image on the left has the email address typed in the "User name" box. This will return an error that the password is no good. The image on the right has the correct username typed in, and will work just fine.
  3. The Image on the left won't work. The image on the right will work.
  4. When checking the username and passwords, make sure that there are NO spaces in them. If you are unsure about this, retype everything; both your username and password.
