How to Change the Outbound Mail Server In Netscape Navigator 2 and 3

This tutorial applies to both the Macintosh and Windows (Wndows 3.11, Windows 95/98, and Windows NT) versions of Netscape Navigator 2.0 and 3.0, as the two are so similar to one another. To change the outbound mail server in Navigator, read the following steps:

1. Open Netscape Navigator by double-clicking its icon.

2. Click on the "Help" menu (or the Apple Menu if you're using a Macintosh), and select "About Netscape".

3. If a screen comes up and reads Netscape Navigator Version 2.0, 2.01, 2.02, or any version of 3, please follow the steps outlined below. If a screen comes up that reads Netscape® Communicator, then proceed to the Netscape Communicator tutorial by clicking here.

4. Click on the "Options" menu across the top of Netscape, and click on the "Mail and News Preferences" item. You should see a screen that looks similar to Figure 1 below. Across the top of this window, you will see some tabs. Click on the tab labeled "Servers". This step is circled in red in Figure 1.

5. You will now see several boxes. Find the box that is labeled "Outgoing mail (SMTP) Server. If you see "mail.kearney.net" or "mail.unk.net" typed in this box, delete it and type in smtp.kearney.net. This step is circled in red in Figure 1.

6. Click on the "OK" button in the bottom right corner. Do these steps, and you're done.
