Problem: I keep getting files that have an ".exe" extension on them. How do I use this with my Macintosh?

Solution: Files with an ".exe" extension on them are designed to work, in general, with Windows computers, and are not programmed to work on the Macintosh. This does not necessarily leave Macintosh users out in the cold, however. There are many solutions that enable Macintosh computers to run Windows programs. Here are some links to get you started:

  1. The OS Emulation HomePage
  2. Connectix Corporation, Makers of Virtual PC (as a matter of fact, this page was designed on a Macintosh G3 computer using Virtual PC running Windows 95, 98, and NT)
  3. Orange Micro, makers of PC upgrade cards for Macintosh computers
  4. Insignia Solutions, makers of the popular SoftWindows 95 and SoftWindows 98 products
